The power of POSITIVE
Getting…and keeping…your energy and vibration up so that you attract positivity.

I am working to keep my energy and vibration up. Does that sound a little coo-coo to you? Positivity is like a muscle, and it takes practice to keep gratitude present throughout your day! It’s important to me to keep this website filled with positivity because it’s life changing…not just for me, but for everyone who wants a life filled with joy. If you are feeling like things are lack luster in your life right now, see if either of these quotes below resonate with you:
“You created the reality you now exist in with your thoughts, which means you can use the very same power of thought to change it.”
“If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.” Jen Sincero
Not very long ago, I read a book that has given me such clarity. Jen Sincero authored a delightful book titled “You are a BadAss.” Who REALLY has time to READ? But a friend whom I really respect (and who really kicks ass) repeatedly asked me if I had read the book yet. Since I hadn’t, but I respect her and her intuition, it was time to pay attention to her insistence. The Audible app is my new favorite thing and I downloaded the audio version there. What a delightful idea that the author could read TO ME while I sat in my steaming hot bubble bath? Yes please! I can TOTALLY do that and consequently became so absorbed in it that I started listening in my car and every other moment I could eek out. Fast forward six months and I am on my FIFTH listen. It’s that good! Not kidding.
If you choose to listen or read it, I promise you won’t be disappointed, especially if this article has piqued your interest. Let’s start with three basic questions and one request to get your hamster running:
Do you feel like you are making choices in your life with intention based on your own road map or is life just happening TO you?
What are your top 3 priorities in life right now?
What is your most important goal or new habit you want to focus on for the next 30 days?
TRY THIS: Write your favorite positive motto or quote on a post-it and put it where you will see it. This helps you to stay focused on, and reach for, your goals daily. It’s easy to get distracted with the minutia of life- this helps remind you of where you are headed by your own design.
My intention with this post is to simply spread happiness by telling you how I discovered a “recipe” of sorts for escorting more joy into my life. I wanted to include places to visit to bring more positivity into YOUR life too. So here we are. Start paying attention to where the negativity comes from in your life and bit by bit, replace it with something positive. Here’s an example of how I did this in my life: I used to love the TV show Dateline. But then I realized I was watching a lot of really bad things happening to real people and I decided I could replace that with something more positive. So, now I watch Documentaries (which I love) about people… I’m loving “Abstract” lately. It’s a new series by Netflix about The Art of Design and each episode focuses on a different designer.
After each show I feel inspired and more knowledgeable and…HAPPY! This is just one example of a small shift I decided to make and you can too. It’s about finding your own path toward more joy, success and positivity. It’s a big journey but baby steps in the right direction count!
Like many people, I tend to think in pictures and when I think of pure joy, the four photos I took in succession of my four year old son pop into my head. We were at a restaurant in Southern California visiting my brother. The waiter delivered his order of mac and cheese atop pulled pork with crispy crumbles. His expression was THE BEST – cheesy happiness! Pure joy.
When I think about what brings ME joy, I think of immersing myself in our local culture & getting more connected with the nuances and people of Oregon City, lifting people up and celebrating others. I moved here in 2015 and found almost nothing online to help me understand what the pulse was like, or really what Oregon City had to offer. What I loved most about my years in photojournalism was the daily opportunities to meet people, learn about them and their stories and make beautiful photographs. So, why NOT do that here in O.C. and share these stories with you, my neighbors? YES! I work full time as a realtor, but it is not what occupies 100% of my time. I find when I immerse myself in things that I love like family time, interior design, paint colors for client home exteriors and my photography, real estate opportunities find their way to me in abundance. That is how this website started. It’s a place where all these wonderful things can live. It can house interviews, my photographs and the lovely treasures that Oregon City so carefully hides. It can serve as a positive place to go online when you need a virtual hug from a neighbor, search for a home to buy or find a landscaping recommendation you once read about on Oregon City Chit Chat. (man that site is hard to search! I know, it wasn’t meant for that…so I compiled some of that info here so that it can be searchable!) I’m going to sign off with my favorite quote:
“Be around the light bringers, the magic makers, the world shifters, the game shakers. They challenge you, break you open, uplift and expand you. They don’t let you play small with your life. These heartbeats are your people. These people are your tribe.” –Unknown
Happy places on the web to peruse:

Whether you download it on Audible or buy the physical copy, this is a New York Times best seller.
High five her for: Her bad assery – yep this gem was FORTY years old and still living in a garage trying to get her shit together. This book is filled with both humor and cussing– a heads up in case you have kids…
Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you have likely heard of Ted Talks. Be inspired.
The Positivity Blog
Yep there’s more than a whole blog about this stuff. Breathe deep. It all feels good.
The Daily Positive
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away…it can’t hurt to read this whilst eating your apple. This website can inject positivity and actionable inspiration into all areas of your lives to affect change. The impact of inspiration can light a fire.
Your Mind, Body and Soul are connected. That means when you give self care to one, the others benefit. Honor your mind by listening to audio books that nurture your interests. Honor your body by working it out and feeding it real food that is not processed. Honor your Soul by paying attention to and surrounding yourself with what inspires you. Give back to the people and community around you and incorporate the practice of mediation in to your life. (PS…I love the app called Headspace for learning meditation!!)
